What is the shelf life of tea?
Tea can be stored in our tea bags for about half a year. Longer in well-sealed tea tins. It is important that you only remove the tea with a dry tea measure or spoon. The container must be tightly closed again, otherwise the tea will lose its taste, take on foreign odors or absorb moisture.
What is recommended for a green tea beginner?
We like to recommend somewhat lighter green teas, such as organic China mist tea, Formosa Pi Lo Chun or organic Ceylon highland. In addition, green tea beginners should pay attention to the correct preparation and not give up after the first try if the green tea does not taste as good as they had hoped. Let your taste buds get used to the new flavor and over time you may find that you like the many facets that a good green tea has to offer.
Do I have to throw away the first infusion of green tea?
In Asia, it is customary to pour away the first infusion. However, this is more of a tea washing, i.e. only a very short brewing time. Some say "the first cup is for Mother Earth", others say "to honor the guest" to show "the tea I am serving you is not poisoned". Others simply want to purify the tea. With the qualities that you can buy from us, you can be sure that the teas are handled properly and cleanly, so there is no need to throw them away.
Can I brew green tea more than once, and if so, how often?
You can brew green tea several times. We recommend pouring a small portion of green tea and not a large pot straight away, because then you are often overwhelmed by the quantity and don't make another infusion. How often is a matter of taste 2-3 infusions are usually not a problem. But feel free to try the 4th or 5th infusion. This way you can form your own opinion and get to know your tea in all its variety.
Can I brew black tea several times?
Black tea is traditionally only brewed once. However, we have already heard from customers that they also infuse black tea more often.
Why are there such big price differences?
As with all foodstuffs, the price of tea also depends on the quality and quantity offered. Whether you appreciate a higher quality, and therefore more expensive tea, or whether you want to afford it, you have to decide for yourself. Just try something special to spoil yourself and your palate. It doesn't have to be every day, perhaps as a time-out on a busy day. Not so quickly on the side, but very consciously. Tea is a wonderful reason for a moment of peace.
Why does my tea taste bitter?
With green tea, the water is usually too hot and the dosage is too high. With black tea, it is usually due to the brewing time.
Can I sleep after black tea or green tea?
Tea contains caffeine, so it stimulates. However, whether you can sleep or are wide awake after drinking tea depends on your caffeine tolerance. Some people can sleep even after drinking a lot of tea, for others one cup is enough and sleep does not come.
