Tea preparation: tips & recommendations for perfect enjoyment

Tea preparation made easy - full of flavor

The right preparation determines how complex tea tastes. Temperature, brewing time and dosage work together - only then do the fragrance, color and aroma fully unfold. Because each variety has different requirements, it is worth taking a closer look at the details. In this way, you can avoid bitterness, bring out sweetness and umami and enjoy a harmonious cup.

A common mistake: boiling water for all teas. Black tea can withstand 100 °C, but green tea, white tea and oolong require significantly lower temperatures. The brewing time also determines the character of the tea: a shorter brewing time usually has a stimulating effect, while a longer brewing time tends to have a calming effect. If you are planning several infusions, you should dose carefully, especially with green and white tea, and vary the time per infusion slightly.

A preheated pot also helps to maintain the temperature. It also makes sense to use fresh, low-limescale water and store tea in an aroma-proof container. This keeps the profile clear and nuanced. With a little attention, every infusion becomes a little ritual - suitable for everyday use, but still special.

Further tips and interesting facts about preparing tea

Preparing the jug

A preheated teapot helps the aroma and fragrance to develop. The hot water stays at the right temperature for longer and the subtle nuances emerge more clearly. If you want to enjoy your tea consciously, you should not skip this step - it often makes the small but decisive difference.

Brewing times as a recommendation

The infusion times given serve as a guide. In the end, your personal taste will decide: a longer infusion time usually has a calming effect, a shorter one is more stimulating. Try out different variations to find the perfect balance for you.

Correct storage

Tea is sensitive and easily absorbs foreign odors. It should therefore be stored airtight, cool, dry and protected from light. A well-sealed container is ideal, while products with a strong aroma, such as coffee, should not be stored in the immediate vicinity. Stored correctly, tea stays fresh for up to a year. After that, it loses its character and is considered "smoky".

Quality control & origin

Quality plays a central role at Tea & Co. We purchase exclusively from the best cultivation and collection areas, combined with strict controls. Our tea tasters regularly travel to the most important regions to assess the appearance, smell and taste directly on site. Only teas that satisfy all criteria make it into our range.

Leaves and sorting

The well-known abbreviations such as SFTGFOP or FTGFOP describe the care taken when picking and the fineness of the leaves. An additional "B" stands for "Broken" and identifies leaf pieces that are faster-drawing and more productive, but not inferior in aroma. These classifications are a valuable indication of quality and processing.
